  • Mount Pleasant Enterprise Day!

    Thu 24 Mar 2016

On Thursday 24th March, we had our big Mount Pleasant Enterprises day and it was a super success! Thank you to all those who came along and purchased some of the goods on offer. From bandanas, handmade jewellery and grass heads, to hot cross buns, porridge, afternoon tea and granola bars- there was something for everyone to buy!
The children had a fabulous time learning how to design, market, create and sell their products. They also did a great job on their stalls on the day and made a significant amount of money to go towards a charity or a school cause of their choice.

    Well done everyone!

  • Fiji Cake Sale!

    Wed 23 Mar 2016
On Thursday 22nd February 2016, a terrible cyclone tore through Fiji demolishing thousands of people’s homes and livelihoods. Nearly 50 people were killed but the effects of the cyclone have been felt around the world. Kia-Kelly Qualovaki and her sister, Kali (whose family originates from Fiji) kindly set up a cake sale to raise as much money as possible, in order to send to Fiji to help the people rebuild their lives.

In total they have raised over £200!

    Well done!

  • Church Visit

    Wed 23 Mar 2016
On Friday 18th March, Castle and Quarry were lucky enough to visit Reverend Mark at the Holy Spirit Church. He showed us the different parts of the church and got us to act out the Easter Story. We found the visit very informative and we really enjoyed using props from around the church to act out the story. Thank you Reverend Mark!
  • Mount Pleasant Enterprises!

    Thu 10 Mar 2016

As part of our Mount Pleasant Enterprises writing stimulus, Porthill and Flaxmill classes had a workshop lead by the Young Enterprise organisation.  They completed a questionnaire to identify their business strengths and applied for jobs such as Marketing Manager or Events Organiser within their business.  In their teams, they bought materials from a supplier to design and make their own bracelet to sell to a customer, in an attempt to make the most profit.

In the afternoon, they generated their own business idea and pitched to a ‘Dragon’s Den’ to gain investment.  All in all, a great day was had by all and lots was learned about the business world.  Look out for the amazing ‘Instathing’ – one of the inventions from our budding entrepreneurs - which will no doubt be hitting our stores very soon!

  • The Animal Man

    Tue 08 Mar 2016
On Wednesday 2nd March, Castle and Quarry classes had a visit from The Party Animal Man. They were able to touch all the creepy crawlies he brought along, overcome their fears as well as learning more about 'Animals and their Habitats'. This was an eye opening visit that was enjoyed by adults and children alike.
  • Darwin Values - coming soon!

    Fri 04 Mar 2016
In our most recent Awards Assembly, Mr Morris announced our brand new approach to SEAL and PSHE in school. We will be creating our own 'Darwin Values'. These will appear in all classrooms and we will share a whole school display in the hall. Staff and pupils will be familiarising themselves with these values and we will work together to make Mount Pleasant even better. These values will go from Nursery right up to year 6. In the oldest age group, pupils will be able to work towards, 'Bronze', 'Silver' and 'Gold' awards before moving on to secondary school. If you  visit our school, please do ask questions of us and check out how we are getting on with this new approach.
