Meadow

Welcome to Meadow Class 

2024-2025

⭐️ Miss Eddies will be teaching in Meadow Class. Miss Turner, Miss Hall and Miss Fraser will be our class teaching assistants in class. ⭐️

 

⭐️ PE will be on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure children bring their kit in on Tuesday and leave it in school until Wednesday.⭐️

 

⭐️ Reading books - children will receive a school book, possibly two books to support their phonics. They are able to change these reading books every Monday or when they have completed the book. Please encourage your child to read at least three times per week. They will complete a reading challenge through the year, each Monday we check reading records, if they have completed three reads they move on step along the journey towards a prize. ⭐️

 

⭐️ Water bottles - please ensure your child has a water bottle in school everyday.
If it is warm please ensure your child has a hat and wears suncream ⭐️

Spring Term 2025

In History and Geography we have been learning about Snow and Ice. In History we have been learning about the famous explorer Captain Robert Scott and his expeditions to Antarctica. In Geography we have been locating cold places on the map, learning about different climates and how animals and humans adapt. Here is what we have learnt, there are some home learning tasks your child may enjoy doing.

Autumn Term 2024

Welcome back to school! We are really excited to have you all back at school for the Autumn term. We hope you have all had an
enjoyable summer holiday. This term our topic is ‘Kings, Queens, Knights and Castles’.
Have a read of our Autumn class forecast to find out what we will be learning about.

Computing - We have been practising our typing and mouse skills in computing. We designed our own rockets using Sketchpad!

Science - We learned about things that are living, dead or never alive and went for a hunt in the forest! We also learned about habitats and we used the iPads to research what animals live in particular habitats and what they eat.

English - We learned about the story ‘The Winter’s Child’. At the start of our unit, we sequenced the story together and acted out parts of the story using freeze frames!

Maths - Year 2 have been learning about different ways to divide a number… Sharing and grouping.

Music - We have been learning about call and response patterns to represent West African animals in music.

We have been learning about The Three Little Pigs in English!

In Maths, Year 1 have been learning about place value and addition and subtraction. Year 2 have been learning about place value, money and addition and subtraction. We have been using lots of practical resources to support our learning.

In Computing we have been learning about the different parts of a computer/laptop, how to log in with a password and have been beginning to navigate ‘sketchpad’.

In Science we have been learning about Everyday materials, their properties and what they might be used for.

In Year 2, we have been adding together 2digit numbers by drawing tens and ones to help us. 

Music - We have been exploring beat and rhythm using the story of Saint George and the dragon!

In Year 1, we have started our new Shape topic. We have been recognising and naming 2D Shapes.
