COVID-19 time capsule project

Since schools were ordered to close to the vast majority of pupils on Friday 20th March 2020, all our lives have been turned upside down.  Every family’s experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdown and isolation will be different but overall this is an experience that we have all had to get to grips with overnight, find ways to cope with and adapt to living without things that we are used to.

The word ‘unprecedented’, meaning never done or known before, has been used to describe what we are living through – I certainly hope we never have to live through anything like this again.

However, this will become a hugely significant historical event and as such we would like to create a time capsule so that we have a record of our experiences.

With so many difficult circumstances, it is going to be important to remember the positives that have come out of this experience.  We are all so strong and adaptable and the Mount Pleasant team of staff and families are an amazing source of support for each other.

We would like each pupil to have the opportunity to add something to the time capsule and so when we return to school we plan to support each pupil to complete their own record of their time at home.  I have included a copy of it here so that you can start to talk to your child about this project.

We are also starting to gather a list of objects that we think we should add to the time capsule.  Please start to think about what we could add. Some suggestions so far are:

A toilet roll

Some hand sanitiser

A face mask

‘Stay safe, stay home’ poster

What else would you include?

Suggestions of item s to go in the time capsule.....
