Welcome to Porthill Class

⭐Mrs Thomas (Miss Pharo) will be teaching in Porthill Class Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Mrs Smith will be teaching in Porthill Class on a Thursday and Friday. Miss Jones will be our class teaching assitant everyday, Mrs Bates will be in class on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Mrs Crean on a Wednesday. ⭐

️ PE will be on a Monday and Thursday, please ensure your child has their kit on a Monday and leave it in school until Thursday. 


⭐️ Reading books - children will receive a school book, possibly two books to support their phonics. They are able to change these reading books when complete. Please encourage your child to read three times per week. They will complete a reading challenge through the year, each Monday we check reading records, if they have completed three reads they move on step along the journey towards a prize. ⭐️

⭐️ Water bottles - please ensure your child has a water bottle in school everyday. If it is warm please ensure your child has a hat and wears suncream ⭐️

⭐️ Please contact myself and Mrs Smith via email on if you have any questions, comments or concerns. Please remember to check your app messages as we regularly send home class messages. ⭐️

In Art we have been making waves! Our focus has been line drawing and then exploring different medias including chalk, pastels, crayons, felt tip and colouring pencils. Great team work everyone!

In Maths we are learning about money

Our storytelling workshop. Dawn the storyteller visited to tell us a snow and ice story about Ellesmere lake, we trusted lots of materials and objects to create the setting.

Welcome back for the Spring Term

We hope you have had a lovely Christmas break. We are excited to welcome you back for the Spring term. Porthill Class looks different as we have moved the tables around. Children will spend some of their day sitting in rows and some of the day sitting in groups. Here are some pictures of what it will look like.

We also had a special visitor who dropped off some early Christmas presents

Today was Christmas jumper day in Porthill. Everyone looked fabulous!

Each day in December Porthill have enjoyed opening a present from the advent sack, we have enjoyed some wonderful Christmas stories together.

Well done to everyone who received the first reading prize of the school year, great reading at home!

We had lots of fun at the skipping workshop this week.

In Science we have been exploring fruit and vegetables, we discussed how we could group them.

In Science we went on a senses hunt outside to see what we could see, hear, touch and smell.

We have been working on our number bonds, hit the button is a game to support with fast facts!

Our construction challenge this week was to build a castle, lots of fantastic team work involved!

Some of the amazing home learning children have completed so far this term, well done.

Buddy reading started again and the children really enjoyed it. We are paired with pupils from Attingham class who have had some training in how to support the younger children reading.

Porthill class have taken some time to reflect on the Queen’s life this week. We have made a wreath to celebrate her life.

In Art this week we have been exploring paint! Children have been printing using duplo bricks and mixing colours to create different shades of green

In English we are learning about Traditional Tales, we had a muddled sack arrive with lots of different stories in. We sorted them, sequenced and retold the stories

We are working on our place value knowledge in maths. Working hard to recognise how many tens and ones in two two digit numbers
